Discovery process

The Salesforce discovery process that de-risks your project

Insight

Salesforce discovery is the structured first phase that defines outcomes, processes, data, integrations, and architecture before any build. ForceFolks runs discovery as workshops plus an org and data review, producing a solution blueprint, data and integration plan, prioritized backlog, risk register, and a costed roadmap — so the build is predictable, not a guess.

Why does Salesforce discovery matter?

Most failed Salesforce projects fail in the first two weeks — when scope, data, and architecture are assumed instead of defined. Discovery (the Frame phase of the FORCE Framework) replaces those assumptions with a blueprint, a plan, and a costed roadmap, so the build is predictable.

What does Salesforce discovery cover?

A ForceFolks discovery looks at the whole picture before a single field is built:

  • Outcomes & success metrics — what 'done' actually means.
  • Process mapping — sales, service, marketing, and operations.
  • Org & technical-debt audit — the state of any existing org.
  • Data review — quality, volume, and migration risk.
  • Systems to connect — ERP, finance, support, and data systems.
  • Architecture & security — data model and sharing model.
  • AI readiness — whether Data Cloud and Agentforce fit.
  • Adoption & change — the people who must use it.
Deliverables

What you get from discovery

Solution blueprint

The target architecture, data model, and process design.

Data & integration plan

System-of-record rules and the integrations Salesforce needs.

Prioritized backlog

Epics and stories sequenced by value and risk.

Risk register

The delivery risks, and how each one is mitigated.

Costed roadmap

Phased scope, effort, and a realistic timeline.

Success metrics

The outcomes we'll measure after go-live.

How it works

How a ForceFolks discovery runs

A short, structured sequence that replaces guesswork with a costed plan — before you commit budget to a build.

  1. Kickoff & goals

We align on outcomes, stakeholders, and constraints.

  2. Workshops

We map processes and requirements with the people who do the work.

  3. Org & data audit

We review any existing org, data quality, and integrations.

  4. Architecture design

We design the data model, security, and integration approach.

  5. Backlog & estimate

We prioritize work and produce a costed, phased roadmap.

  6. Readout & sign-off

We present the blueprint and plan, and agree the path forward.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How long does Salesforce discovery take?

Most discoveries run 1–3 weeks depending on scope, the number of processes, and the state of any existing org and data. Larger multi-cloud or integration-heavy programs take longer. We confirm the duration at kickoff.

Do we need discovery if we already have requirements?

Often, yes — but a lighter one. Requirements describe what you want; discovery validates feasibility, data, integration, and architecture so the estimate and build are reliable. We scale discovery to what you already have.

Is discovery paid, and does it commit us to ForceFolks?

Discovery is a paid, standalone phase with concrete deliverables you own — the blueprint, plan, and roadmap. You can take those and build with any partner; there's no obligation to continue with ForceFolks.

What happens after discovery?

You have a costed roadmap and can proceed into the build (the Realize phase), staff it with augmentation, or pause. See how we deliver.
