Salesforce Price Increase History: 2016 to 2026

Direct answer

Salesforce's Enterprise list-price path moved from $150 in the 2016 Lightning announcement to $165 in August 2023 and $175 after the 2025 increase. All are USD per user per month. September 2026 introduced Core at $195, but Core is a new bundle, not an identical Enterprise license. ForceFolks keeps those changes separate. Salesforce said existing legacy-edition customer pricing remained unchanged in its September 2026 announcement.

This record covers selected Sales Cloud editions, related Sales and Service announcements, and Agentforce charging models. It is not every Salesforce product or contract.

A separate benchmark

Enterprise list prices compared with consumer inflation

The blue line tracks selected Enterprise quotes. The grey line shows the purchasing power of $150 from February 2016.

Enterprise quotes of $150, $165 and $175 against a CPI-U benchmark ending at $211.91 in August 2026. Core appears separately at $195 in September.
The 2016 line starts with the announcement, not an assumed billing date. The CPI line has a gap at October 2025 because BLS did not publish that observation. Core is a separate bundle marker. There is no September 2026 CPI estimate. Sources: S1, S2, S6, S7, S8, S10.

At August 2026, the $175 Enterprise quote is 17.4% below the $211.91 consumer-inflation benchmark. That does not make Salesforce 17.4% cheaper to operate. Seats, add-ons, implementation and features also changed.

When did Salesforce change its list prices?

  1. 2016: Lightning changes the packages

The February 2 announcement introduced $75, $150 and $300 Lightning editions for Sales and Service. Existing customers would receive features on a rolling schedule. That is not proof of one universal contract uplift date. Salesforce's 2016 announcement.

  2. 2023: the first announced increase after seven years

Salesforce described the July 2023 announcement as its first list-price increase in seven years. The specified Professional, Enterprise and Unlimited changes took effect in August for the named buying situations. Salesforce's 2023 announcement.

  3. 2024: Pro Suite launches as a different offer

Pro Suite became available on March 12 at $100. It combines sales, service, marketing and commerce features. This is a new product record, not a $20 increase assigned to every Professional customer. Salesforce's Pro Suite launch.

  4. 2025: higher Enterprise and Unlimited list prices

The June 17 announcement set August 1 for the increase. It also launched Agentforce add-ons from $125 and Agentforce 1 editions from $550. Do not combine a base license and an optional AI add-on into one universal price. Salesforce's 2025 announcement.

  5. 2026: Core, Advanced and Max bundle more products

The September 3 launch introduced new Sales and Service bundles. Industry-edition pricing had a later fall schedule. Salesforce's statement about unchanged legacy pricing does not replace the terms of your next renewal. Salesforce's 2026 announcement.

Illustration, not a customer quote

Enterprise vs Core: a 100-user example

A seat-price comparison is only the first step. Compare the same users, contract term and products before valuing the bundle.

Monthly equivalents at published USD list prices; annual commitments where specified
Illustrative purchaseCalculationMonthly equivalentAnnual equivalent
Legacy Enterprise only100 × $175$17,500$210,000
Core only100 × $195$19,500$234,000
Enterprise plus 100 Slack Business+ seats$17,500 + (100 × $15)$19,000$228,000

Core is $2,000 more per month than Enterprise alone: 11.4%. Against the illustrative Enterprise-plus-Slack purchase, the difference is $500: 2.6%.

This is not a savings forecast. The Slack comparison works only if all 100 users need Business+, the included entitlement matches, and separate billing can end. Add negotiated discounts, taxes, support scope, unused seats and consumption charges before deciding.

Sources: archived Enterprise quote, current Core and Slack entitlement, Salesforce's $15 Slack Business+ announcement. The other bundle features are not assigned an invented cash value.

Your invoice is a separate question

Salesforce list price vs what you pay

A public price is a comparison point, not your renewal quote. Your order form sets the products, quantities, term and commercial conditions.

  • Net price: use your actual unit price after any negotiated discount, not an assumed market discount.
  • Renewal terms: read the price-adjustment language and notice dates. Do not assume every order form has the same uplift clause.
  • Scope: separate licenses, support, storage, sandboxes, integrations and consumption services.
  • Usage: compare contracted seats with real work. Removing inactive access and reducing committed licenses are different actions.
  • Delivery: implementation, training and ongoing administration are separate from Salesforce's license bill.

ForceFolks service fees are quoted after scope review. This article does not turn Salesforce's list prices into ForceFolks rates. Use the implementation cost guide when planning delivery work.

How ForceFolks measures price changes

  1. Keep the product name. Professional, Pro Suite, Enterprise and Core have separate records. No cross-edition average is calculated.
  2. Keep both dates. The JSON distinguishes publication, effective month and archive observation. An unknown effective month remains empty.
  3. Use primary evidence. Numbers come from Salesforce announcements and price tables. A preserved official page supplies the older table after the live page changes.
  4. Calculate nominal change. Divide the later quote by the earlier quote, subtract one, then multiply by 100. Round percentages to one decimal.
  5. Apply a separate CPI benchmark. Multiply $150 by the selected month's CPI-U divided by 237.111. The baseline is the February 2016 announced quote.

August 2026 benchmark = $150 × 334.980 / 237.111 = $211.91

Legacy quote difference = ($175 / $211.9134076 − 1) × 100 = −17.4%

CPI-U is BLS series CUUR0000SA0: all items, U.S. city average, not seasonally adjusted. Its index base is 1982–84 = 100. This measures consumer prices, not Salesforce quality, software inflation or business value.

Data coverage: the local cache contains January 2016 through August 2026. October 2025 is missing in the official series. There is no interpolation and no September 2026 inflation calculation.

Older announcements do not expose every billing term. This is USD history, not a currency-converted global price index. It cannot reveal private discounts or future renewal terms.

The chart and CSV build from versioned local data without a network call. A cache older than 60 days produces a review warning, not fabricated fresh values.

Before your renewal

Five checks before choosing an edition

  1. Find the dates and terms. Read notice periods, quantity commitments and any price-adjustment clause.
  2. Map users to work. Check who needs each permission, feature and support level. Login frequency alone does not prove a license is unnecessary.
  3. List overlapping purchases. Compare separate Slack, analytics, security and support contracts with the proposed bundle.
  4. Model consumption. Estimate actions and data operations by workflow. Confirm the allowance unit, overage rate and renewal period.
  5. Separate software from delivery. Budget configuration, integrations, training and ongoing support. Ask for a scoped quote.

ForceFolks can review the technical fit of your edition and delivery plan. Salesforce or your reseller must confirm license entitlements and contract pricing. Request a review or read about Salesforce managed services.

FAQ

Salesforce price increase questions

What replaced Salesforce Enterprise Edition?

Salesforce introduced Core in September 2026 and compares it with legacy Enterprise. Core is $195 per user/month, with annual billing on the current Sales page. ForceFolks treats it as a new bundle. The launch announcement says legacy customer pricing remains unchanged; it does not require an immediate move.

How much does Salesforce cost per user in 2026?

The Sales pricing page checked by ForceFolks shows Starter Suite $25, Pro Suite $100, Core $195, Advanced $395 and Max $550 in USD per user/month. Pro Suite and higher use annual billing; Starter offers monthly or annual billing. A free suite is also listed. Your contract and add-ons determine your actual bill.

How much did Salesforce raise prices in 2025?

Salesforce announced an average 6% increase for selected Enterprise and Unlimited editions from August 1, 2025. ForceFolks corroborated Sales Enterprise $175 and Unlimited $350 in the archived official table. Those are 6.1% above $165 and $330. The announcement excluded planned Foundations, Starter and Pro price changes.

Is there a Salesforce price increase in 2026?

The September 2026 release introduced Core, Advanced and Max at $195, $395 and $550. ForceFolks does not label this an across-the-board contract increase. Core costs 11.4% more per seat than the archived $175 Enterprise quote, but the packages differ. Salesforce's announcement preserves existing legacy customer pricing.

How often does Salesforce increase prices?

There is no fixed schedule in the sources reviewed by ForceFolks. Salesforce's 2023 announcement described a seven-year gap. Another selected-edition increase followed in August 2025. September 2026 then introduced different bundles. Counting those as three identical Enterprise increases would hide the packaging change.

Will my Salesforce price go up at renewal?

This price history cannot predict your renewal quote. ForceFolks recommends checking the order form, quantities, term, discounts and any adjustment clause. Salesforce's legacy-pricing statement is tied to that announcement. Ask your account team to confirm the next term in writing.

How much do Agentforce Flex Credits cost?

The current rate page lists $500 per 100,000 Flex Credits. A standard action uses 20 credits, or $0.10; Voice actions use 30. ForceFolks separates those units from conversations and resolutions. Current Sales allowances are 500,000 for Core, 1 million for Advanced and 2.75 million for Max, per organization per year.

Do existing customers have to move to Core, Advanced or Max?

The September announcement does not mandate an immediate move and says legacy customer pricing remains unchanged. ForceFolks recommends checking your renewal proposal rather than inferring indefinite availability or fixed future pricing. Industry editions also have different rollout timing.

How do I negotiate a Salesforce renewal?

Start before your contract's notice deadline. ForceFolks recommends a user-role map, actual consumption, overlapping product costs and written entitlement comparisons. Use published edition prices as a reference, not a guaranteed discount. Ask Salesforce or your reseller to document the options and any agreed renewal limits.

Will Salesforce charge for AI agents that call its API?

Salesforce's Headless 360 guidance says some interaction multipliers remain TBA, with 30 days' notice before those charges begin. Existing Agentforce actions and Data 360 queries via MCP already have separate credit rules. ForceFolks recommends identifying the operation and rate-card entry before estimating cost.
