  1. Gate 01

    Capture today

  2. Gate 02

    Compare the target

  3. Gate 03

    Decide the transition

What each handoff covers
Capture today
Select representative new-business quotes, amendments and renewals, including approval exceptions and contracted prices that must remain explainable.
Compare the target
Map those journeys to the proposed revenue product and classify rules to retain, redesign or retire.
Decide the transition
Agree parity checks, contract handling, coexistence dependencies and a release decision before scheduling a production migration.

Resolve each decision before the next commitment.

Turn a requirement into a clear brief

Assess now or stabilize first?

The useful first deliverable is a migration decision, not a copied catalog. Salesforce now calls the target product Revenue Management, formerly Revenue Cloud. Compare lifecycle rules, contract history and downstream dependencies; this is not a uniform product upgrade.

Illustrative deliverable

A quote-lifecycle comparison

  1. Reference quote: recurring product with a negotiated discount and approval.

  2. Lifecycle checks: amendment value, renewal pricing and downstream order totals.

  3. Decision record: retained rule, redesigned rule, unresolved dependency and business approver.

The current CPQ estate works but the future product choice is unclear.

Quoting is currently failing in production.
Separate urgent stabilization from the longer-term platform decision.

Review a CPQ migration

Salesforce’s current documentation calls the destination Revenue Management, formerly Revenue Cloud. Confirm your licensed products, including any Billing scope, with your Salesforce account team. A working CPQ quote is the starting point for a test, not an instruction to copy every rule.

Scope decisions and acceptance evidence
Inspect What can change What to test
Product structure Bundles, attributes and catalog relationships Valid combinations work and prohibited combinations fail
Pricing Rule order, discount schedules and quote calculator plugin logic Net price, term and rounding match the approved result or a documented change
Approvals and amendments Who signs exceptions and how a contract changes One new sale, amendment and renewal each follow the agreed approval path
ERP and billing handoff Which system owns order, invoice and adjustment Reconcile one transaction end to end and resolve exceptions before switching

What is the first deliverable?

Request a dependency inventory, a representative quote test pack and a migration decision by product family. Record what should be rebuilt, retired, retained for historical access or escalated for a licensing decision. A cutover proposal should name data owners, handling for open quotes, reconciliation steps and conditions for pausing the rollout.

Do we need to migrate immediately?

That decision depends on the installed products, current agreements and business goals. If a single approval rule is broken, remediation may be the more useful scope. Compare options against Salesforce’s migration strategies. ForceFolks’ CPQ hiring page serves buyers who need an engineer inside their own change program.

Before an enquiry

Questions to settle before work starts

Can the assessment conclude that we should keep the current CPQ setup?

Yes. The decision should compare the current business constraints, support position, planned capabilities and cost of transition. A documented decision to retain and maintain an existing setup can be more useful than a migration proposal that has not demonstrated a business need.

Why is an amendment test different from a new quote test?

An amendment depends on an existing contract, dates and previously agreed commercial terms. The target must represent the intended change and its effect on billing and entitlements. A correct new-business total does not establish that renewals, partial changes or credits preserve the same contractual meaning.
